ALXnow’s top stories this week in Alexandria

It’s been a rough couple of days for Alexandria City High School.

The school lost its varsity boys basketball coach yesterday when he resigned. He was suspended earlier in the week after a brawl during a game with Wakefield. Threats against the school were investigated earlier this week, and today the Minnie Howard campus was locked down following a bomb threat.

The city also had its second murder of the year. A woman was found dead in her apartment, and a medical examiner later ruled the cause of death as a homicide. Her name is being withheld.

All-in-all, pretty glum as far as top stories roundups go. If you want a positive palette cleanser: an ACHS senior, Abdelraman Aboud Abdelsadig, won a $300,000 scholarship to attend Colby College in Maine.
