Arlington man charged with involuntary manslaughter in fatal King Street crash

A 23-year-old Arlington man faces a felony charge after a two-car crash that killed an Alexandria man last December.

Mohammad Mohammadi has been charged with involuntary manslaughter (a Class 5 felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison) and one misdemeanor count of reckless driving.

Around 8 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2025, Mohammadi was driving a 2009 Toyota Camry eastbound on King Street at S. Taylor Street when he struck a 2015 Acura TLX. The driver of the Acura, 78-year-old Craig Taylor, later died at Inova Alexandria Hospital. Mohammadi was treated at Inova Fairfax Hospital for injuries after the crash.

The Alexandria Police Department says that surveillance footage shows Mohammadi was driving at an excessive speed.

“Given my training and experience with visual speed estimates, I observed the Toyota Camry heading eastbound on King Street traveling at an excessive speed so as to endanger the life, limb, or property of any person,” APD said in a search warrant affidavit released in January.

Mohammadi was arrested on May 19 and was released on bond. His next court appearance will be on June 18.
