The Alexandria Police Department is investigating a fatal crash at King Street and S. Taylor Street that took the life of a man this morning (Saturday).
Around 8 a.m., APD shut down a portion of King Street between Menokin Drive and N. Quaker Lane to respond to the two-vehicle crash. Two men were injured and transported to a hospital, where one of them later died.
The other driver remains hospitalized with serious injuries, according to APD.
Police had diverted westbound traffic on King Street while responding to the crash, which remains under investigation.
Investigators are seeking witnesses, dash camera or surveillance footage that may assist in determining the circumstances of the crash. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crash Investigator Kolodzinski at 703-859-4447.
Per dispatches, the crash involved a black vehicle and a gold sedan. The collision reportedly deployed the black vehicle’s airbags, and a first responder said one of the vehicles was smoking on the scene.
