Olde Towne Pet Resort proposes taking over The Board Hound’s former Old Town location

A new owner wants to take over operations at a pet grooming and boarding facility in Old Town.

Delaware-based Pet Resort Hospitality Group has filed new ownership paperwork with the city to convert the former Board Hound at 133 S. Peyton Street into an Olde Towne Pet Resort. The company, which also owns Olde Towne Pet Resorts in Springfield, Sterling and North Bethesda, Md., is proposing to increase daycare and boarding capacity at the site.

“Under new Ownership, the business will continue to operate in the same manner as the previous business,” Pet Resort Hospitality Group said in its application. “We are proposing to increase the daycare capacity from 25 to 65 and the boarding capacity from 13 to 42 (there are 42 kennels onsite, including small, medium and large kennels).”

The Board Hound opened in 2019 and in 2023 got city approval to expand operations with overnight accommodations. It closed in December 2025.

Pet Resort Hospitality Group said dogs will be rotated in groups for exercise in the facility’s play yard and rear deck area, with outdoor activity stopping at 7 p.m. The business operating hours would be 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The last day for public comments on the proposal is April 30.
