Ulta opens new location at Potomac Yard Shopping Center

Beauty retailer Ulta has opened its new location at Alexandria’s Potomac Yard Shopping Center.

An employee confirmed the store at 3501 Richmond Highway opened in late March. The location includes a full salon with hair and brow services, along with the retailer’s usual selection of beauty, hair, skin, fragrance and wellness products.

Ulta opened in the former home of Dressbarn, which closed in 2019 along with hundreds of other locations around the country. The 9,700-square-foot space sat vacant for six years and was briefly used as a preview center for Arlington-based Club Fitness from October 2024 to February 2025.

The beauty retailer joins competitor Sephora in establishing a presence in Alexandria. Sephora opened its store at 810 King Street in Old Town in January 2020.

Ulta is just a few doors down from Target (3101 Richmond Highway). Earlier this year, Target and Ulta announced an end to their partnership in August 2026, when Ulta products will no longer be sold at Target locations.

Hours at the new Ulta location in Potomac Yard are 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday.
