Underwater egg hunt, other Easter events set for holiday weekend in Alexandria

Get your Easter baskets ready and hop to egg hunts and other festivities over the holiday weekend in Alexandria.

Egg hunts, visits with the Easter Bunny and more family-friendly events are taking place over Easter weekend. Some of the highlights are an underwater egg hunt in the pool, brunch with the Easter Bunny and Councilman John Taylor Chapman’s returning egg hunt.

Here’s how some groups and businesses in Alexandria are planning to mark the Easter holiday, which falls on Sunday, April 5.

Underwater Egg Hunt at Chinquapin Park Recreation Center & Aquatics Facility

When: 1-4:45 p.m. Saturday, April 4

Get ready to make a splash at this unique egg hunt in the pool. Children will jump in the water to search for eggs, play on an inflatable obstacle course, visit Alex the Bunny, and enjoy treats and some special prize eggs.

Easter Family Outdoor Event at New Life International UMC

When: 11 a.m., Saturday, April 4

This family-friendly Easter celebration will provide outdoor games, egg hunts. Guests are requested to reserve a free spot to attend.

Warwick Village Easter Egg Hunt

When: 10-11 a.m., Saturday, April 4

Bring a basket and get ready to hunt more than 500 eggs at Landover Park. There will be a separate egg hunt for children under 3. Children will also enjoy visits with the Warwick Village Bunny and spring crafts.

Councilman John Taylor Chapman’s Easter Egg Hunt

When: 10 a.m. Saturday, April 4

This returning hunt with plentiful Easter eggs at Angel Park will also include games. RSVPs are requested.

Easter Egg Hunt #2 at Lee-Fendall House

When: 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Saturday, April 4

This tradition draws families to Lee-Fendall House’s Garden for several sessions of Easter egg hunts. The event is sold out.

Breakfast with the Easter Bunny at Theismann’s Restaurant

When: 8 a.m., Saturday, April 4

Families will enjoy a family-style breakfast, photos with the Easter Bunny, an Easter egg hunt and Easter basket making activity for children. Ticket sales have ended for this event.

1800 Diagonal Road

Egg Hunt Egg-Stravaganza at Charles Houston Recreation Center

When: 10 a.m.-12 p.m., Saturday, April 4

Timed egg hunts will be held for different age groups (1-3, 4-6, 7-9, and 10 and up). After hunting for eggs, explore the Easter Trail to meet Whiskers the Easter Bunny for pictures. There will also be games, crafts, face painting, music and more entertainment. Registration is no longer open for this event.

Easter Bunny Brunch at Hank’s Oyster Bar

When: 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Sunday, April 5

The restaurant will serve a full brunch buffet while the Easter Bunny makes an appearance. Tickets are required to attend.

First Christian Church’s Easter Egg Hunt

When: 10 a.m., Sunday, April 5

The church will host a breakfast followed by an Easter egg hunt. The event is open to all ages.

2723 King Street

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church’s Easter Egg Hunt

When: 11:45 a.m., Sunday, April 5

After its Community Easter Service at Waterfront Park at 6:30 a.m. and services at the Luray Avenue church at 9:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. children will enjoy an Easter egg hunt at 11:45 a.m.
