Ticket sales for ‘School of Rock’ start tomorrow at Little Theatre of Alexandria

Tickets go on sale tomorrow (Wednesday) for a new production at The Little Theatre of Alexandria next month.

The Old Town theatre is preparing to show “School of Rock,” a musical based on the 2003 movie of the same name starring Jack Black. The production will run from Feb. 7-28, with 8 p.m. showings Thursday through Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. at 600 Wolfe Street.

“School of Rock” first premiered in 2015 with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Glenn Slater and the book by Julian Fellowes. The story follows Dewey Finn, “a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn a few extra bucks by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school.”

“There he turns a class of straight-A students into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band,” according to LTA. “While teaching these pint-sized prodigies what it means to truly rock, Dewey falls for the school’s beautiful, but uptight headmistress, helping her rediscover the wild child within.”

The Alexandria show is choreographed and directed by Kristina Friedgen, with music direction by Aimee Faulkner and production by Christine Tankersley and Bethany Weinstein.

Tickets, which are $36, will be available tomorrow on the theatre’s website and box office at 703-683-0496.
