The Alexandria Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run that occurred last month after a driver ran over an Alexandria City High School student’s foot as he tried to board a school bus.
The incident occurred at around 8 a.m. Nov. 12, according to a recently released search warrant affidavit. The student reported to police that a black Acura SUV ran over his foot as he was crossing the street to get on a school bus.
Police spoke to the bus driver, who said he had activated his stopping equipment and honked his horn to alert drivers to stop, according to the affidavit. The student was reportedly running late to get on the bus and ran between cars to get to it, the bus driver said.
The SUV driver stopped briefly without getting out of their vehicle, yelled something unintelligible and drove away after the student gave the driver a thumbs-up, the student told police.
“Once (the victim) boarded the bus, (the driver) asked him if he was ok and he stated, ‘I’m good,’ and sat down,” according to the affidavit.
The affidavit did not include the location of the incident. ALXnow has reached out to APD for more information.
