Registration opens for Saint Rita School 5K and 1K on Nov. 15

Saint Rita Catholic School 5K and 1K Kids Fun Run return to Alexandria on Nov. 15, 2025 (via Facebook).

Get your running shoes ready, because the Saint Rita Catholic School 5K and 1K Kids Fun Run are returning to Alexandria on Saturday, Nov. 15.

The races are a fundraiser for the school, and the course starts outside George Washington Middle School (1005 Mount Vernon Avenue), then heads down tree-lined Main Line Boulevard and Potomac Avenue, and returns to GW. More details on the races are below.

“Every step you take supports St. Rita Catholic School’s mission to provide a transformative Catholic education,” St. Rita said in the event listing.

The race funds:

  • $55,000 per year in classroom support
  • $30,550 per year for teacher support
  • Monthly appreciation events for educators

It costs $35 to run in the 5K, and the registration price increases after Oct. 25. It also costs $25 for the 1K kids’ fun run. The 1K race starts at 8 a.m. and ends at 8:15 a.m., and the 5K starts at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 10 a.m.

Runners can pick up their racing bibs and student-designed T-shirts at St. Rita’s on Nov. 5 (Wednesday) from 3 to 6 p.m., on Nov. 7 (Friday), from 4 to 7 p.m., or on race morning at the registration table from 6:45 to 8 a.m.

  • Top 2 in Each Age Group (15-70+) – Gift Cards
  • Top 3 Youth Finishers (Ages 8 & under to 13-14) – Medals

Del Ray is also hosting the annual Alexandria Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 27, in Del Ray.
