JBG Smith giving update on mixed-use project that adds 600+ new homes to Potomac Yard

Developer JBG Smith will soon discuss an updated proposal to build a mix of multifamily, townhome and committed affordable housing across from the Potomac Yard Metro station.

Next Wednesday (Aug. 27), the Potomac Yard Design Advisory Committee (PYDAC) will review updated plans for Landbays G and H (see rendering above),

The project is currently proposed to add more than 600 residential units, open space and retail across three vacant parcels — in land bays G and H.

“The applicant is requesting approval of three distinct Development Special Use Permits (DSUP’s) to construct three projects on three different sites in Potomac Yard,” according to City staff with the Department of Planning and Zoning. “These are the last three remaining building sites in Potomac Yard.”

Details on the three sites have been provided by the city, and are listed below. While a timeline with the city approval process is in the package going to PYDAC on Wednesday, a full-scale development timeline isn’t included.

The proposed developments are on vacant lots west of the Metro station and near to where the failed Potomac Yard arena was to be situated.

JBG Smith will be represented at the meeting by land use attorney Cathy Puskar of Walsh, Colucci, Lubeley, & Walsh.
