Robert Andrew Reed was arrested on June 15 in the bus bay area of the Huntington Metro station.

The June 10 incident was described as by the Fairfax County Police described as isolated. After the incident, Reed was allegedly captured on video surveillance wearing a blood-stained jacket, which was not recovered by police.

According to a recently released search warrant affidavit:

Immediately after the June 10 incident, “the suspect left the area on foot and subsequently boarded a Metro bus near Huntington Station. With the assistance of the Metro Transit Police, detectives learned the suspect had traveled from Huntington Station to the Potomac Yard station. In footage after the incident, it appears the jacket Reed is wearing has red staining consistent in appearance with blood on it.”

Detectives learned that Reed lived less than half a mile away from the Potomac Yard Metro station, at the Mini U Storage located at 405 Swann Avenue.

“When shown a known photograph of Reed that was taken after his arrest, the staff acknowledged they recognized Reed and knew him to be living in (a unit) of the facility,” police said in the search warrant affidavit.
