The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch and a Flood Watch for Alexandria and surrounding communities.
The Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 7 p.m., and the Flood Watch is in effect until 8 p.m. on Wednesday (June 18).
The latest National Weather Service detailed forecast says that showers and thunderstorms are likely, mainly between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m., then showers are likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 5 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 90. Southwest wind 7 to 9 mph. The chance of precipitation is 60%—new rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts are possible in thunderstorms.
