A Flood Watch is in effect for Alexandria and surrounding communities from Friday evening through late tonight (June 13).
The National Weather Service is warning of heavy rain and possible flash flooding across parts of Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.
There’s a risk of rivers, creeks, streams, and low-lying areas flooding due to excessive runoff.
Expect more showers and thunderstorms to roll in late Friday afternoon and evening. Some storms could dump 1 to 3 inches of rain in just one to two hours. In some areas, rain may continue to fall on the same spots, potentially accumulating to 4 to 5 inches in a few hours.
