The 8th Green Machine Regiment Band is bringing Civil War-era music to life at Fort Ward Museum & Historic Site (4301 W. Braddock Road) on Saturday, June 14.
From 11 a.m. to noon, this historical brass ensemble from George Mason University will fill the museum lawn with the sounds of authentic 19th-century instruments. It’s an outdoor concert you won’t want to miss.
Grab your lawn chairs or picnic blankets and get ready for a musical journey back in time. The band will play a mix of marches, waltzes, and national airs that were popular during the American Civil War.
The band is excited about the upcoming performance, sharing on Facebook: “We’re looking forward to playing at Fort Ward in Alexandria next weekend. Come listen to some genuine Civil War-era tunes!”
The Friends of Fort Ward are sponsoring this event, which is weather permitting. They’re asking for a suggested donation of $2 per person or $5 per family.
The concert is open to everyone, and there’s no need to register in advance.
