JUST IN: Pedestrian succumbs to injuries after Wednesday night crash on King Street

The 19-year-old victim of Wednesday night’s (April 16) hit-and-run on King Street has succumbed to his injuries.

The Alexandria Police Department has identified the victim as Abdullahi Mumin and said that he succumbed to his injuries at Inova Fairfax Hospital. Mumin was struck near the intersection of King Street and Dawes Avenue, at around 8:40 p.m.

Jilmar Doria-Medina, 42, was charged with DWI and two counts of hit-and-run by the Fairfax County Police Department. He is currently being held without bond and will make his first court appearance on June 10.

According to APD:

Wednesday, April 16, at approximately 8:38 p.m., Alexandria Police officers responded to the 4700 block of King Street for the report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle. On scene, officers located a 19-year-old male who was struck and a downed electrical pole. The male was identified as Abdullahi Mumin. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition and succumbed to his injuries.
