
A 19-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash on upper King Street on Wednesday night, and a 42-year-old Fairfax man is being held without bond for the incident.
The pedestrian was struck near the intersection of King Street and Dawes Avenue at around 8:40 p.m. The striking vehicle, a gray Acura, then hit a light pole, knocking down power lines and temporarily shutting down the street. The suspect was first reported to have struck multiple vehicles, less than a mile away, in a parking lot in the 5100 block of Skyline Drive in Bailey’s Crossroads.
Jilmar Doria-Medina, 42, was charged with DWI and two counts of hit-and-run by the Fairfax County Police Department.
According to FCPD:
On April 16 at 9:55 p.m., officers responded to 5100 block of Skyline Drive in Bailey’s Crossroads for multiple reports of a vehicle crash. As officers arrived in the area, another crash was located, and the driver fled the scene after refusing to get out of the vehicle. These victims were not injured. An additional crash was reported that involved a pedestrian, which occurred in the City of Alexandria. Officers were able to stop the driver who was identified as Jilmar Doria-Medina, 42, of Fairfax. Our officers charged him with DWI and two counts of Hit and Run. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was held on no bond.
Doria-Medina allegedly hit a light pole in the parking lot in the 5100 block of Skyline Drive, then multiple vehicles, and drove on the wrong side of the road as he fled, according to FCPD radio dispatches.
Jilmar-Medina got his driver’s license suspended for six months in 2016, after being found guilty of marijuana possession. He was also found guilty of being drunk in public in 2016 and paid a small fine. In 2019, he was found guilty three times for driving on a revoked/suspended license, and his sentences were all suspended. Jilmar-Medina also goes to court next month on four suspected HOT Lanes violations in February.
Jilmar-Medina will appear in court on June 10.
