Holy Cow, Del Ray’s Gourmet Burger Joint, is serving up a special burger to celebrate Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin’s record-breaking achievement.
The eatery announced on Facebook on Monday (April 7) that its new Burger of The Moment (#BOTM) pays tribute to Ovechkin for surpassing Wayne Gretzky’s all-time NHL goals record.
“It’s our #BOTM in honor of the record-breaking local legend Alex Ovechkin for scoring the BIG 895! “The Great 8” is topped with cheddar, gouda, sautéed cabbage, caramelized onions, hash brown, russian dressing. Score big on this flavor!”
Ovechkin beat Gretzky’s 894-goal record on Sunday during the Capitals’ game against the New York Islanders. The 39-year-old Russian forward, known as “The Great Eight,” now has 895 career goals with five games left in the 2024-25 season to push his record even higher.
