The National Park Service announced yesterday that peak cherry blossom bloom is expected next month around the region.

The National Park Service predicted March 28-31 is when 70% of the Yoshino cherry blossoms around the Tidal Basin will be in bloom. The period lasts from several days to up to two weeks, depending on weather conditions.

While Alexandria’s neighboring suburb Washington D.C. is mainly known for its cherry blossoms, there are more than a few in Alexandria and the city goes all-out for its celebrations.
