It’s a winter wonderland outside with snow all across the city, which also means there are several public service changes planned around the City of Alexandria.

A Hazardous Weather Outlook is still in effect and while previous forecasts showed the snow continuing this morning, the revised forecast says there’s a slight chance for flurries before 1 p.m. After that, however, there’s an 80% chance of precipitation, though less than half an inch of new snowfall is expected.

All City of Alexandria offices are closed today due to inclement weather.

According to a release from the City:

Additional Closures and Service Adjustments

  • Trash, recycling, and yard waste collection are suspended for Wednesday. Collection will “slide” by one day to accommodate snow and ice removal.
  • All Alexandria City Public Schools and offices will be closed on Wednesday, Feb. 12.
  • As of Tuesday night, Metrobus is operating on a moderate snow plan.
  • As of Tuesday night, DASH is operating on a regular Saturday schedule with snow routes in effect until further notice.
