Notes: Alexandria under Heat Advisory, Air Quality Alert and Hazardous Weather Outlook

☀️ Today’s weather: Expect a sunny and hot day with temperatures reaching close to 100 degrees and heat index values as high as 104, accompanied by a west wind blowing at 6 to 9 mph. As for tonight, there’s a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms, primarily before 2am, followed by partly cloudy skies and temperatures dropping to around 74 degrees. The west wind continues at about 7mph and shifts to a northerly direction after midnight.

Today might be a good day to stay inside.

After a cool couple of days, temperatures around Alexandria are headed back up to 100 degrees. The National Weather Service has listed both an Air Quality Alert, Heat Advisory and Hazardous Weather Outlook for Alexandria.

The heat index value is likely to go as high at 103 or 104 degrees today.

While it will mostly be “hot and sunny” today, according to the National Weather Service, there’s also a 30% chance of rain today, going up to 50% tomorrow and 60% over the weekend. The Hazardous Weather Outlook warns of “potential for clusters of strong to severe thunderstorms” over the next few days.
