Alexandrians considering outdoor activities this 4th of July (Thursday) may want to plan a backup or bring a sturdy umbrella.

The National Weather Service is forecasting “a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m.” on Thursday, though it said the chance of precipitation is 50%.

That chance of thunderstorms continues — but is slightly diminished down to 40% — into that evening until 2 a.m.

Thursday is also likely to be another hot day around D.C., with temperatures up to 96 degrees.

Unfortunately, the weather is unlikely to clear up much this weekend either, with a chance of showers on Friday and a 60% likelihood for showers and thunderstorms on Saturday. It’s also likely to remain warm this weekend too with a high near 94.

At the very least, things may cool off on Sunday, with temperatures going down to 90 degrees and the chance for rain dropping to 30%.
