Notes: Memorial ride planned this week for Alexandria cyclist killed in Maryland crash

Alexandria cyclist Scott Cornell Binde, 64, was killed in a crash this weekend in Frederick County, Maryland.

The crash occurred around 3:30 p.m. on U.S. Route 15 north of Frederick, Maryland. According to police, a driver on Route 15 struck and killed Binde as he crossed Catoctin Furnace Road.

The driver remained at the scene and the cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Reddit group Bike DC is organizing a memorial ride at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, from the Smithsonian Metro Station to Old Town Alexandria where there will be a brief memorial service, followed by a trip to one of his favorite restaurants, Lena’s Wood-Fired Pizza & Tap.
