The derailment of a work truck early this morning near the new Potomac Yard Metro station created single tracking and delays for Blue Line riders this morning.
The derailment caused single tracking between Braddock Road Metro station and the National Airport Metro station, and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) said to expect delays.
WMATA General Manager Randy Clarke said the issue was not connected to the Potomac Yard Metro station.
Context: We had a technical derailment. It was a work truck & b/c of its design this can occur. No injuries, just takes time to put back on rails. Also not connected to Potomac Yard Station. In trying to be transparent our initial comms could have been clearer. Sorry for delay. pic.twitter.com/3TvU5nSuVL
