Alexandria under Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 8 p.m.

Alexandria and the surrounding area are under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 8 p.m.

The National Weather Service made the announcement on Friday afternoon.

“Scattered severe thunderstorms with damaging wind gusts and isolated large hail are possible,” NWS said in the advisory. “Isolated instances of flash flooding are possible through early this evening.”

NWS said that severe storms and flash flooding is also possible Saturday afternoon and evening.
