The watch is in effect from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., as a large storm with 60-mile-per-hour wind gusts has been reported in Centreville and is moving northeast.
The heatwave continues, as the National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory and flood watch for Alexandria.
Heat index values of up to 107 degrees are expected in the region, and the advisory remains in effect until 7 p.m. The NWS has also issued a Flood Watch, which will be in effect from 3 p.m. into the evening.

With heat index values reaching 111 degrees today, an Extreme Heat Warning is in effect in Alexandria until 9 p.m. tonight (June 25).
Alexandria and Arlington County are under a Coastal Flood Advisory until 2 p.m. on Friday (May 16). Low-lying areas along the shoreline are at risk of tidal flooding.
The National Weather Service in Baltimore, MD/Washington, DC warns that water levels could rise up to half a foot above ground. Tides are expected to be two to two and a half feet higher than usual.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Wind Advisory for Alexandria and portions of Washington, D.C.; Maryland; Virginia; and Wester Virginia.
