Over $5,000 has been fundraised for Crooked Beat Records less than a day after the flooded Del Ray business published fundraisers on social media to support its restoration.

A GoFundMe and merchandise fundraiser have quickly garnered more than $5,300 for the vinyl shop, after a burst pipe incident flooded it with several inches of water over the weekend. As of yesterday (Tuesday), water had continued to enter the shop but crews were working to address damage, according to a Facebook video by owner Bill Daly.

Foodies will have two opportunities to score dining deals from restaurants across Alexandria in the coming weeks.

In Alexandria, 11 eateries plan to offer prix-fixe menu deals through the Metropolitan Washington Winter Restaurant Week, which returns Monday, Jan. 19 through Sunday, Jan. 25. Hosted biannually in the winter and summer by the Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington, the week features multi-course meal deals at participating D.C.-area restaurants.

Ella Bella Flourish Fearlessly is one of two businesses from the D.C. area invited to participate in the Made in Virginia Market in Richmond on Friday, along with Occoquan’s Hello Jackson Home Fragrance Co. Spanberger will make remarks at the market to kick off a weekend of inauguration festivities.

A 10-year-old girl from Alexandria has set a kids’ world record for the longest time continuously jumping on a pogo stick.

Del Ray resident Lily Youngblood learned how to use a pogo stick on Oct. 6, 2025. Just three days later, she set the world record in her age range for the longest time jumping on one — a distinction recognized by Canada-based Kids World Records.

One Virginia Lottery player is starting off the new year with a winning $1 million ticket purchased in Del Ray.

The ticket was one of five $1 million winners in the lottery’s New Year’s Millionaire Raffle, announced yesterday (Thursday). It was purchased at the 7-Eleven at 2108 Mount Vernon Avenue and beat one in 125,000 odds to win.

An Alexandria man is behind bars after an alleged strong-arm robbery in Del Ray early Saturday morning.

The 31-year-old suspect barricaded himself in an apartment at the 1700 block of Dewitt Avenue after allegedly stealing another person’s electronics around 2:15 a.m., according to Alexandria Police Department dispatches.

The 10th annual Candy Cane Bar Crawl will be held from 12:30 to 6 p.m., encouraging attendees to eat, drink and be merry, according to a flier posted by the hosting Del Ray Business Association. This year’s crawl includes raffles, trivia, a photo booth and costume contest, along with 18 participating restaurants promising festive libations.
