A 19-year-old Alexandria man faces multiple charges for allegedly driving a van without a license, providing a false name to police and drug possession.

Police observed the suspect allegedly driving the wrong way down the 3800 block of Old Dominion Boulevard in the city’s Arlandria neighborhood on Sunday, Dec. 5.

A 24-year-old Alexandria man is being held without bond after allegedly strangling his girlfriend.

Antar Christmas was arrested on December 8 and charged with domestic assault and battery and impeding blood circulation or respiration of a family/household member. He is being held without bond in the Alexandria jail.

SROs in hot water over alleged inappropriate sexual messages — “The investigation stems from a recent report by a former student about alleged sexually inappropriate conversations that occurred during her time at the school, according to two people familiar with the inquiry but not authorized to speak about it on the record.” [Washington Post]

Holiday theft down in the city — “According to data collected by the Alexandria Police Department, a total of 56 shoplifting and concealment incidents have been reported for November and December, with a few weeks still left in December. Overall, Alexandria’s Part 1 crime rate is down 9% compared to 2020, but it’s still 8% higher than 2019, according to recently released figures.

Police released the city’s Part 1 crime statistics for 2021, as of Dec. 7, and included are the reported numbers of homicides, rapes, robberies, auto thefts, larcenies, burglaries and aggravated assaults.

A Maryland man was arrested earlier this month for allegedly shoplifting $350 worth of merchandise from the Target at Potomac Yard.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, Nov. 24. The Target loss prevention manager told police that two suspects walked into the store, and that he recognized one of them as a frequent shopper, according to a search warrant affidavit.

The Alexandria Police Department is investigating a home invasion in a West End neighborhood that may have been caught on tape.

In a press release, the police department said they’re investigating a robbery that took place at 5:18 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4, on the 1400 block of Catlin Drive in the West End.

A 15-year-old Alexandria male was charged with felonious assault after allegedly stabbing a man twice in the parking lot in the Landmark area of the West End.

The incident occurred Monday, October 11, at around 10 p.m. in the parking lot of 101 S. Whiting Street.

Alexandria police are investigating a possible home invasion robbery near Mark Center.

A woman reportedly told police she was tied up and robbed during an early morning home invasion on Saturday in the 1400 block of Catlin Lane. Police responded to her residence around 5:15 a.m. after she said she had been hog tied and robbed of her car and personal items by two men armed with a gun.

A 26-year-old Maryland woman faces serious charges after allegedly fleeing from a police investigation of a shoplifting offense at the Target store in the Potomac Yard shopping center.

“During the course of investigating this incident, one of the suspects resisted arrest and jumped into a vehicle,” police reported in a search warrant affidavit.

No arrests have been made after a series of car break-ins at an apartment building in Arlandria.

There have been four incidents at 511 Four Mile Road of parked cars being broken into and valuables stolen, according to Alexandria Police.
