It was election week in Alexandria, so congratulations and/or condolences.

Alexandria Democrats managed to hold onto all of the City Council seats. Mayor Justin Wilson won reelection and Elizabeth Bennett-Parker was elected to the 45th District House of Delegates seat. But any local Democrat euphoria was dampened by statewide losses that Wilson warned could reverse recent local wins on some issues.

Two Maryland juveniles have been arrested and face several charges after leading Virginia State Police on a high-speed chase that ended in a crash at the I-395 and Seminary Road interchange on Wednesday afternoon (October 27).

According to a release put out by the Virginia State Police, the chase started at around 2:30 p.m. after an Infiniti was clocked doing 89 mph in a 55 mph zone and displaying a fake temporary registration tag.

A 43-year-old Orange County man was arrested in the Braddock area earlier this month for selling drug paraphernalia and providing a false statement to police after a concerned resident reported people passed out in a car.

On October 7, Alexandria Police found a black Acura TL parked in the 900 block of North Fayette Street. The man was asleep in the driver’s seat, and provided police with the false name of Thomas Sprow, police said in a search warrant affidavit.

The Alexandria Police Department announced that a 17-year-old male has been arrested and charged with crimes related to a shooting on Four Mile Road last week.

Last Sunday, Oct. 10, a juvenile male was shot at Park Vue of Alexandria apartments (511 Four Mile Road) just before noon. The victim had a gunshot wound on his upper body, but the injuries were considered not life-threatening and he was taken to the hospital.

Alexandria Police have arrested a 38-year-old Fairfax County man for allegedly shooting an adult male multiple times in the lower body in an apartment building in the 3800 block of Cameron Mills Road in Arlandria.

“The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle before officers arrived,” police said in a release. “The victim was taken to the hospital.  His injuries are not life-threatening.”

An adult male was injured and a juvenile arrested last week after a fight at the McDonald’s at the Bradlee Shopping Center.

The incident occurred at around 2:20 p.m. on Tuesday, October 5. The victim was treated for injuries at the scene.

A suspect has been arrested after a report that they brandished a firearm at another driver during a case of severe road rage.

According to the police report, the incident occurred at the intersection of Sanger Avenue and Derby Court at 2 p.m. today (Thursday).

A 23-year-old Fairfax County man wounded after a shooting in a West End apartment complex is being held without bond in the Alexandria jail for being a violent felon in possession of a firearm.

Antwain Lee Williams was arrested on Tuesday, September 21, after being driven to Inova Alexandria Hospital by a neighbor. He was alert with police and claimed that he was shot in the head.

A man driving a Nissan Sentra with D.C. plates crashed into a light pole on Mount Vernon Avenue in Arlandria early Monday morning (October 4).

The incident occurred after 1 a.m. just outside of Casa Chirilagua at 4901 Mount Vernon Avenue. The crash smashed the Sentra’s windshield and caused its front and side airbags to deploy.

Multiple violent charges against a 25-year-old Fairfax County man have been dismissed in court, although the man remains in the Alexandria jail without bond after allegedly assaulting police during his arrest.

The suspect was arrested on July 27 for carjacking, assault and battery, brandishing a firearm and and assaulting police.

Alexandria Police are reporting double-digit increases in burglary and drunk driving arrests so far this year.

In an update to the Health and Safety Coordinating Committee, police reported a 35% increase in driving while intoxicated arrests (136 incidents) — as of August 2021.
