The City of Alexandria is hosting a community meeting on plans to reshape the West End.

The Alexandria-West Planning processes is an update to a plan drafted in 1992. The new planning process kicked off back in November 2022.


Royal Restaurant (730 N. St Asaph Street) in Old Town North could swap some parking spots for 90 new outdoor seats.

In an application filed to the City of Alexandria, applicant ARP Royal OPCO LLC said the plan is to convert 10 parking spaces to the west and south of the building into 60 outdoor seats, with another 30 added to an alley on the west side of the building.


Del Ray celebrated two of its favorite sons with a bench dedication on Sunday.

Retired Alexandria Sheriff Dana Lawhorne and Tommy Knoernschild, who died in 2018, were both recognized with the honor for their contributions to the neighborhood.


(Updated at 12 p.m., Nov. 14) A man is being held without bond in connection to the stabbing death of a 38-year-old man inside a Del Ray church.

The Alexandria Police Department confirmed that a suspect is in custody, but released few details on the suspected stabbing death of a 38-year-old man in Del Ray on Sunday afternoon.


The Alexandria Police Department is investigating a robbery at the Bradlee Shopping Center this morning just before 9 a.m. that left one victim injured.

According to scanner traffic, the victim was bleeding from the face after being punched near the McDonalds on the 3600 block of King Street. Scanner traffic said the suspect may have taken the victim’s shoes and wallet.


There’s not a speck of snow on the forecast, but Alexandrians might see snow plows making the rounds across the city today.

The city’s Department of Transportation & Environmental Services (T&ES) is doing a practice run today for potential wintery conditions.


A man was stabbed to death Sunday afternoon in Del Ray, and a suspect is in custody, according to the Alexandria Police Department.

APD was notified at around 4:25 p.m. that a person was stabbed in the 2700 block of Dewitt Avenue near E. Raymond Avenue, according to the police scanner. The suspect was described by police as a Black male with a medium complexion in his mid-30s and wearing a gray pullover sweatshirt and dark pants.


Veterans Day is this upcoming Saturday, but the holiday is also observed on Friday, so the mix of what’s open and closed around Alexandria is a little more muddled than it usually is on a holiday.

For Alexandria City Public Schools, for example, it’s a school day as usual.
