Three men are in custody after allegedly assaulting a man and stealing his shoes on a DASH bus this afternoon (Tuesday) in Alexandria’s West End.

The Alexandria Police Department confirmed that three adult males were arrested in the incident. A DASH bus driver called in a fight in the bus between multiple males at around 2:20 p.m. in the 2500 block of N. Van Dorn Street.

A 34-year-old Alexandria man faces multiple assault and firearm-related charges after allegedly brandishing a handgun from his car at other drivers.

The first incident was reported at around 1 a.m. on Aug. 24, 2024, in the 11300 block of White House Road in Upper Marlboro.

No arrest was made after a crash that damaged multiple vehicles and upturned a red Mercedes-Benz in Old Town earlier this month.

According to a recently released search warrant affidavit, at around 9 p.m. on Monday, March 3, witnesses reported to police that the red luxury car crashed into a black Nissan Sentra, a white Subaru Outback, and a black Toyota Camry and then flipped over in the 900 block of S. Columbus Street.

The Alexandria Police Department is on the lookout for a white Ford F-150 pickup truck that allegedly took off after crashing into a Metrobus in Old Town.

A bus driver alerted police that the F-150 struck a rear-view mirror of the bus at 11:09 a.m., and reported that the truck didn’t stop and continued northbound on Washington Street in the direction of D.C., according to dispatch.

Plans to replace an office building in the West End with a 345-unit apartment building are heading to city review.

According to city records, the applicant, 1900 Beauregard Property Owner LLC, a New York-based company, bought the four-building, 300,000-square-foot Beauregard Professional Center for $12.6 million in 2021.

There’s nothing like a new pair of shoes. This afternoon, all James K. Polk Elementary School students in Alexandria’s West End received free sneakers.

That’s 770 pairs of shoes, all donated to the students by Pennsylvania-based nonprofit Operation Warm and Georgia-based builder Beazer Homes. The event was just one in a handful today across the country that the companies are offering to school systems.
