Details have been released on the 27-year-old man who was arrested for allegedly making bomb threats against Metro, unspecified government buildings and the Alexandria Police Department.
Henock Seyoum Pastoor was arrested by Metro Transit Police last month and charged with threats to bomb or damage buildings or means of transportation. Pastoor allegedly told police that he was “upset with the government of the United States of America and planned to blow up” the Spring Hill Metro station in Fairfax County. He also allegedly told police that he was planning a “terrorist attack on unspecified government buildings and the local Alexandria Police Department Headquarters,” according to a search warrant affidavit.
Pastoor’s arrest was made after approximately 200 of his neighbors were evacuated from their homes in the 1700 block of Dogwood Drive near T.C. Williams High School. Hundreds of residents in the area were briefly evacuated.
Pastoor allegedly told police that he used to build bombs in his home country of Ethiopia, and that he would make the U.S. accountable for waiting a long period to get immigration paperwork cleared for his mother. Additionally, he told police that he researched making bombs on the internet and admitted to buying chemicals and other ingredients to make them.
Pastoor also allegedly asked the investigating officer to trust him and said that his bedroom was safe to enter, according to police. He also allegedly said that the officer could wear a bomb suit, “and if anything exploded, law enforcement could deport him,” police said.
“Mr. Pastoor advised that prior to completing the bomb and carrying out his plan, he gave up,” police said. “Mr. Pastoor advised he decided to wait and see what happens with Immigration, however, advised if Immigration keeps playing with him he will build a bomb and carry out his plan.”
No dangerous materials were found after a search, according to the Metro Transit Police Department.
