Alexandria moves into Phase 2 of vaccination

All residents over 16 are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine in Alexandria.

The Alexandria Health Department announced today (Monday) that while eligibility has been greatly expanded, availability is still depending on vaccine supply and could take several months.

“We’re excited to offer vaccine appointments to more Alexandria residents and essential workers ahead of schedule,” said Acting Health Director Dr. Anne Gaddy, who took over following Dr. Stephen Haering’s abrupt departure last week. “This is a big step toward reaching herd immunity and protecting our community.”

Availability is boosted, somewhat, by a large new influx of vaccines coming into the city this week. The Health Department has also opened up about some upcoming modifications to the vaccine process to make it easier for residents to directly register for vaccines. Residents can currently pre-register for vaccination online. Those who qualified in Phase 1a, 1b and 1c are prioritized for vaccination.

According to the health department:

In addition to mass vaccination clinics, AHD allocates vaccine to more than a dozen vaccinating partners, such as pharmacies and private medical practices, to increase local appointment capacity. Residents may be contacted directly by providers to schedule an appointment, and individuals can confirm the legitimacy of these emails by calling the Alexandria COVID-19 Hotline on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 703.746.4988. Residents may also be contacted by email from vaccinatevirginia@info.virginia.gov as part of a new Virginia Department of Health scheduling tool, called VASE.

Currently, the health department is aiming to vaccinate a minimum of 80% of Alexandria residents 16 and over. Currently 20% are fully vaccinated and 1/3 are partially vaccinated.

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
