Mobius Records is opening shop in Del Ray this Saturday (Sept. 12).
The new record store by Neighborhood Restaurant Group replaces Mulberry Lane Play Café at 2016 Mount Vernon Avenue, and will be one block away from Crooked Beat Records, which plans to open soon in its new location. Mobius Records will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
“Mobius opens at 11am with an unbeatable list of records, CDs, merch and more, and we’re throwing a party on our little corner of Mount Vernon Ave to welcome the new shop to the neighborhood,” the shop announced on Instagram.
The new record shop shares space with Shorty’s Deluxe sandwich shop. NRG also owns Evening Star Cafe and Hi/Fi Tex-Mex BBQ (2000 Mount Vernon Avenue) and Planet Wine (2004 Mount Vernon Avenue).
Michael Babin, principal at NRG, previously told ALXnow that he has a good relationship with the Crooked Beat owner Bill Daly.
“I reached out to him immediately,” Babin said. “He said the more the merrier, and it’ll only make it more of a destination, which is exactly what we thought.”
