After selling out last year, Halloweddings are returning to Alexandria.
On Halloween (Saturday, Oct. 31), Greg Parks, Alexandria’s Clerk of the Circuit Court, and his staff will don 18th century costumes to officiate the 20-minute ceremonies. Couples will need to make reservations using the QR code below and pay $75. They can show up in a costume of their choosing — Ken and Barbie, Batman and Catwoman, you name it.
Parks said themed weddings have been a hit since he introduced them last year.
“This is our second Halloweddings and third event overall,” Parks told ALXnow. “They have been very popular with the events selling out in just a few days.”
This year’s Halloweddings will be held at the Athenaeum at 201 Prince Street in Old Town. After the ceremonies, couples receive gift bags and wedding cake.
Parks was inspired to host Halloweddings after a similar event on Valentine’s Day in Prince William County.
“We had such a great response last year that we knew we had to bring it back,” Parks said. “Halloween is one of the most fun days of the year, and the event gives couples a low-cost, and unique way to tie the knot in that fun style.”
Parks’ staff will call couples within two business days of their registration to collect the $75 payment.
