Post-game fights cleared by police following Alexandria City High School football win

Alexandria City High School opened its football season with a 21-7 win at home against the Lake Braddock Bruins.

After the game, a number of fights were also reported on the police scanner outside the school and in the parking lot of the nearby Bradlee Shopping Center. The Alexandria Police Department said that its officers and Alexandria City Public Schools administrators were able to work together to safely disperse crowds from the area, and that there were no injuries or arrests.

An APD spokesperson told ALXnow that “APD officers and ACPS school administrators worked together to manage and safely disperse the crowds from the area.”

In the game, the Titans were scoreless at the end of the first half, trailing 7-0 after a second-quarter rushing touchdown by the Bruins. But two Titan touchdowns in the third quarter and a fumble recovery for a third touchdown in the fourth quarter sealed the win for Alexandria.

The Titans next play the Panthers at Potomac Senior High School in Dumfries at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3.
