Rep. Beyer on N. Va. ICE Encounters — “My office has received reports of several other ICE encounters in Northern Virginia in the past 10 days that featured unjustified violence or apparently warrantless detention. The pattern that emerges in the descriptions is of ICE agents stopping people outside or on the street, asking for ID, and often responding with violence when their orders are questioned, regardless of whether those orders violate individuals’ rights. In the case of Carolina Molina, ICE agents were filmed pointing a gun at a citizen because she verbally challenged and filmed them, activities which are protected by the First Amendment. New Data on Alexandria’s Flock Cameras — “Alexandria’s public license plate reader page began showing two things Tuesday that it did not show a day earlier: the number of searches run over the past 30 days, and the full list of law enforcement agencies allowed to search the city’s cameras. Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Museum Volunteers Sought — “Volunteers lead the museum’s guided tours, offered starting at 1:15 every afternoon the museum is open. Tours require the ability to stand for 45 minutes and ascend/descend one flight of stairs. Depending on the shift, the day can include three or four tours with 15-minute breaks in between. Traffic Impacts from Freedom 250 Grand Prix — “A bunch of roads will be closed for the Freedom 250 Grand Prix, which will be held Aug. 22 and 23, as cars race around D.C. to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary of independence.
