A 20-year-old Maryland man has been sentenced to serve nearly six months in jail for making hidden camera recordings inside the bathroom of his former workplace, a popular Del Ray restaurant.
Joshua Hombrebueno, of Oxon Hill, Md., was sentenced to serve 179 days in jail after being found guilty of making hidden camera recordings inside the employee restroom of Gustave Boulangerie & Brasserie (2213 Mount Vernon Avenue) in September 2025. Five years of his sentence had been suspended, and he must undergo five years of probation.
Hombrebueno had been suspended by the restaurant after his arrest and was later fired.
Police were called at around 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 20, 2025 by a customer who reported that she and her underage daughter used an employee restroom at the restaurant, since the public restroom was occupied, according to a search warrant affidavit. The mother told police that she saw the cabinet doors of the bathroom vanity cracked open, and that she opened it to find a phone propped up on a roll of toilet paper.
The phone was recording for approximately 30 minutes, and the mother said she watched the video from the beginning and saw the person who set up the phone.
Police briefly detained Hombrebueno on Sept. 20, and he admitted to placing the phone in the bathroom for the “purposes of recording himself performing sexual acts to later send to his girlfriend who resides in the Philippines,” according to the search warrant affidavit.
Taking nude photos or video of a non-consenting person in Virginia is a Class 1 misdemeanor, unless it is of a minor, then it is a Class 6 felony.
Hombrebueno was sentenced to five years in jail, all suspended, for unlawful filming of a minor. He must undergo five years of probation, register as a sex offender and never return to the restaurant. If he successfully completes the probation, the charge will be reduced to a misdemeanor unlawful filming and the court will enter an order convicting him of the offense, according to Commonwealth’s Attorney Bryan Porter.
Hombrebueno was also found guilty of two misdemeanor counts of unlawful filming, because the victims were over the age of 18. On the second count, he was sentenced to serve 179 days in jail, and on the third count he was sentenced to 179 days in jail, with all of that time suspended on uniform good behavior and probation.
