Adoptable pet of the week: Gentle Bart looks for home with love and treats

Meet Bart, a large-breed dog from the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria who could use a home with lots of love and treats.

This handsome pup can be shy at first, but his sweet personality will soon take over after meeting new people. He loves being with people and appears to get along well with other dogs, an AWLA volunteer told ALXnow.

“Bart enjoys taking in all of the attention he can get and will happily lean into you when he is ready for some well-deserved pets and scratches,” the AWLA volunteer said. “If you like doggie kisses, Bart has plenty of those to give!”

Bart has a soft tan coat and black muzzle. While he currently weighs around 60 pounds, AWLA says he needs an owner that can help him recover to a proper weight.

“Bart is currently on the thin side, and he is looking for someone committed to helping him get to a healthy weight,” the AWLA volunteer said. “He is sure to thrive in a home where he can get good nutrition and plenty of love.”

Potential adopters can visit the AWLA website or stop by the shelter to learn more about adopting Bart.

Bart can be visited during the shelter’s regular adoption hours:

  • Noon to 7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
Noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday
