Alexandria Resident Dies in Springfield Crash — The 49-year-old resident of Alexandria, was driving a Toyota Camry Old Keene Mill Road when the car veered off the road and hit a guardrail, the Fairfax County Police Department said. [FFXnow]

How Episcopal High School Got to Host World Cup Team — “Episcopal first hosted Al Ain FC, a pro soccer club from the United Arab Emirates, for last summer’s FIFA Club World Cup. That opened the door to this month’s big duties hosting Croatia, [Episcopal High School’s Dan] O’Neil said. The school has partnered with the city of Alexandria for logistical support and security. Divide on New Taylor Run Stream Restoration Project — “The plans are far less sweeping than those of the original proposal in 2020, which would have reconfigured a nearly 2,000-foot section of the waterway and upturned 261 of the park’s trees. That plan was met with ferocious pushback from environmentalists, who chided a flawed data collection process that used water samples from a portion of a stream in Pennsylvania and who adorned their yards with signs decrying “Don’t Bulldoze Taylor Run.” [Alexandria Times]

New General Manager of Hilton Alexandria Old Town — “Paul Fitzgerald will oversee all aspects of hotel operations at Hilton Alexandria Old Town, a 252-room property in the historic Old Town area of Alexandria. Fitzgerald most recently served as hotel manager at Hilton Baltimore Inner Harbor, a 757-room property, where he was responsible for day-to-day operations across all departments.” [Hotel News Resource]
