Valentine’s Day events and dining specials coming to Alexandria this weekend

A lovely Valentine’s Day weekend is coming to Alexandria.

There’s still time to make reservations or sign up for events at venues across the city. It all starts on Friday, Jan. 13, otherwise known as Galentine’s Day, followed by events on Valentine’s Day this Saturday.

Here’s a non-exhaustive lineup of some of the local businesses and restaurants celebrating the season of love with events and specials this weekend.

Galentine’s Day Party

The Alexandria Bier Garden is hosting a Galentine’s Day party with shareable plates, pretzels and champagne and rose specials from 7-10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13. 710 King Street

Valentine’s Day at AR Workshop

The workshop is hosting a family-friendly wood, canvas and textured workshop from 12-2 p.m. on Valentine’s Day. The workshop costs $39 for kids over 6 and $59 to $79 for adults. 1212 King Street

Cookie Decorating at Shop Made In VA

The store is holding a Galentine’s cookie decorating class from 3-5 p.m. on Valentine’s Day. Tickets cost $80 per person. 1121 King Street

Valentine’s Day Bar Crawl

Tickets remain available for a bar crawl starting at the Alexandria Bier Garden on Valentine’s Day. Early bird reservations are sold out, but “tier 2” rates start at $18.89 per person for a group of four. 710 King Street

Friends to Lovers Bookstore

The Old Town romance bookstore is “celebrating the month of love” with events all February long, including a pet portrait session this Friday and a pop-up hair salon on Saturday. Next week, it’ll host the first meeting of its new Rachel Reid Book Club, which will focus on the author’s “Game Changers” series that inspired “Heated Rivalry.” 301 Cameron Street

Del Ray Cafe

The cafe is offering a $95 three-course Valentine’s menu this weekend. Highlights include a beet and arugula salad with warm French goat cheese and balsamic reduction and Maine lobsters with creamy fennel and lemon risotto. Desserts include chocolate beignets with organic whipped cream and chocolate mousse with macarons. 205 E. Howell Avenue

Thompson Italian

The award-winning Italian restaurant is offering a to-go dinner for two with ribollita, burrata with roasted beets and winter citrus, a lamb rotolo lasagna and hazelnut torta, plus granola for the next morning. 1024 King Street

1799 Prime

The steakhouse is offering a special Valentine’s Day menu featuring dishes like red wine-glazed lamp chops, oyster and shrimp casino and a pan-seared rockfish with kale and corn succotash in a tomato cream sauce. 110 S. Pitt Street

King & Rye

Valentine’s specials will be available throughout the weekend, including roasted scallops with carrot sage puree, bone marrow beef tartare and chocolate pecan pie with vanilla ice cream. 480 King Street

Trademark

Trademark will be hosting a four-course wine pairing dinner for $90 to $120 per person. Pairings for charcuterie, seafood, pasta and a beef tenderloin medallion main course are inspired by Virginia and Verona, Italy. The night will end with whipped mascarpone and berries for dessert.  2080 Jamieson Avenue

Evening Star Cafe

The cafe is offering a a three-course prix fixe menu for $55 per person, “crafted to make your evening as memorable as your love story,” from 5-10 p.m. Specials include beets and burrata, ahi tuna tartare, seared scallops and a butterscotch bread pudding. 2000 Mount Vernon Avenue
