The Market Square Garage is closing next Monday, Feb. 9, to allow crews to begin renovations at City Hall and Market Square, according to a city announcement this afternoon (Monday).
Monthly pass holders “should have already been contacted” about new parking options, and a list of alternative locations in Old Town is available on the city’s website. The garage is closing as the project site will be secured with fencing this month, according to the announcement.
The project will also close sidewalks and street parking along N. Royal, N. Fairfax and Cameron streets, according to the city. Part of the sidewalk along King Street in front of City Hall will still be available for public use.
Old Town Farmers’ Market visitors can park for free during market hours at the Courthouse Square Garage (111 S. Pitt Street) and the Tavern Square Garage (418 Cameron Street). Saturday parking hours are 6:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Starting this spring, the City Hall/Market Square bus stop at N. Fairfax Street and King Street will also be relocated “several times during renovation work for your safety.” The stop’s planned new location is across from Coldwell Banker Realty at 302 King Street.
More information on the bus and trolley stop will be shared through DASH, according to the city. Parking questions can be directed to [email protected].
