Waterskiing Santa returns to Old Town waterfront for 40th annual Christmas Eve show

Santa Claus needs to let loose before handing out all those presents.

On Christmas Eve this Wednesday, Jolly Old St. Nick is returning to the Potomac River for the 40th annual Waterskiing Santa show. The show starts at 1 p.m. outside BARCA Pier & Wine Bar at 2 Pioneer Mill Way.

Santa is also raising funds to help pay for fuel and festive outfits for his team, in addition to supporting the Lake of the Woods Adaptive Watersports Foundation. An online campaign has raised nearly $2,000 so far.

According to Visit Alexandria:

Santa, Mrs. Claus, and his merry crew will once again visit the D.C. region via historic Alexandria. There is also a rumor the Grinch will try and steal the show at 12:45 PM before the show starts!

Santa and his pals begin at BARCA Pier at 1 p.m. and ski north to Founders Park before circling back south and finishing at Ford’s Landing.
