There has been another COVID-19 death reported in Alexandria, and the death toll from the virus in the city now stands at 70.
The victim was a man in his 50s.
There are or have been 3,927 cases in Alexandria, according to the Virginia Department of Health. That is an increase of 102 cases since this time last week.
There have also been 327 hospitalizations since the first case was reported on March 11, which is an increase of six hospitalizations since last week. The Alexandria Health Department says that one in 12 infected residents has been hospitalized.
Across Virginia, there have been 3,276 deaths and there are or have been 152,557 cases of the virus.
Demographic, Age and Sex Breakdown
Latino residents are the hardest hit with 1,820 reported cases, followed by Black residents with 816 cases, white residents with 770 cases, Asian or Pacific Islander residents with 139 cases, 84 cases classified as “other” and four native American cases.
There are or have been 2,040 women (with 35 deaths) and 1,873 men (with 35 deaths) in Alexandria with the virus. The only age groups that have not experienced a death so far are children and teenagers.

Testing Update
There have been 41,759 (polymerase chain reaction) tests administered in the city so far and 4,810 antibody tests. The city’s seven-day positivity rate is now at 4.1% and has been under 10% for four months.
- Arlington County has 4,057 cases, 152 deaths and a 3.2% seven-day positivity rate
- Fairfax County has 21,568 cases, 605 deaths and a 4.1% seven-day positivity rate
- Loudoun County has 6,987 cases, 126 deaths and a 4.9% seven-day positivity rate
Need a test? Inova is now offering vehicle-side and walk-in testing services for diagnosing flu and COVID-19, at the Victory Center parking lot (5001 Eisenhower Ave.).
“This location replaces Inova Primary Care on Washington Street in Old Town, which will no longer offer Respiratory Illness Clinic services,” according to the city.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!
The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!
