Listed: $2,850,000

Expansive home with ample space to work, educate and entertain. Located only 7 miles from the Capitol and minutes from Reagan National Airport, Crystal City/Amazon HQ2 and the Metro, 305 Charles Alexander Court, known as “Mount Ida” stands on a hill in the tradition of a neoclassical mansion and possesses distant views of the Potomac River and the hills of Washington, D.C.

Architectural changes over the years have incorporated the classical tradition including plaster over masonry interior walls, high ceilings, antique chandeliers, arched doorways, Beaux Arts paneling and moldings, plaster friezes and a spectacular entryway, all the while including such modern amenities as a gourmet, eat-in kitchen with semi-precious granite counter tops, top of the line appliances, renovated bathrooms and a gas generator.

These features combined with generous off-street parking and elegant, spacious rooms provide an ideal setting for entertaining while maintaining the warmth and comfort of a home that is perfect for daily living. Expansive outdoor areas are perfect for entertaining during the pandemic while following social distancing guidelines and enjoying the gardens.

The property sits in the neighborhood with the Alexandria Country Day School and is only three blocks from the St. Stephens and St. Agnes lower school. NO SIGN ON PROPERTY

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
