Alexandria police investigating after shots fired Saturday in West End parking lot

No injuries were reported after gunshots were fired in Alexandria’s West End early Saturday night.

The Alexandria Police Department received multiple calls that shots were fired at the 5300 block of Essex Court just before 5 p.m. According to radio dispatches, a group of juveniles were reportedly fighting in the parking lot of an apartment complex when the shots were fired.

The area is near Interstate 395 and the southern edge of the Winkler Botanical Preserve.

“Officers canvassed the area and did not locate any victims,” APD spokesperson Rebekka Heite told ALXnow. “At this time, no injuries have been reported, and the incident remains under investigation.”

APD did not release any further details.
