428 N. Washington Street is a grand residence that has been thoughtfully reimagined and renovated for modern living while retaining its historic integrity.

The Edmund Jennings Lee house was completed in 1801 and today offers over 7,000 square feet of living space. The gracious main foyer showcases an original etched bell-jar light fixture and hand-plastered tobacco leaf medallion. The expansive formal drawing room boasts 11-foot ceilings, original heart pine wood floors, in-floor radiant heat and gas fireplace, just 1 of 5 in the home. An elegant dining room spans 22 feet, with a gas fireplace and 2 built-in china cabinets from the Baltimore home of Napoleon’s nephew, Jerome Bonaparte.

The back of the house features an exquisitely renovated kitchen with custom Waterworks cabinets and hardware, top of the line appliances including a 43-inch La Cornue range, built-in Miele coffee maker, Subzero column refrigerator and freezer drawers and 2 Miele dishwashers. The family room, flooded with natural light, adjoins the kitchen and overlooks a private garden oasis.

A heated swimming pool, turf lawn, extensive hardscaping and covered veranda make this the perfect estate for a private respite or entertaining on a grand scale. Ideally located just 1 mile to Metro and minutes to D.C. this luxury property is a must see in the heart of Old Town Alexandria.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
