Del Ray Restaurant Aims to Launch Pizza and Beer Delivery Service

Sicilian Pizza in Del Ray is still working through the ABC permitting process, but if approved, manager David Turker wants to start delivering pizza and beer.

“Our thinking is: beer and pizza go together,” Turker said. “We’re hoping to add both beer and wine to the menu.”

The restaurant (1504 Mount Vernon Avenue) currently offers traditional and gourmet pizzas well as pasta and panini sandwiches, calzones and more. If they receive their ABC permit, Turker says he hopes to offer beer from local breweries and an international selection of wine.

When that would happen is still unclear. Turker sent in paperwork earlier this year but had to refile last week because some of the other papers were out of date.

Turker estimated it could be a few weeks or a month or two before Sicilian Pizza is able to sell beer and wine, but once it does, he said he hopes to add it to the current pizza delivery service. The restaurant currently offers delivery with a $2 charge and a $15 delivery order minimum.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
