Cora Kelly School for Math, Science and Technology just got a little upgrade, courtesy of nonprofit Rebuilding Together DC – Alexandria and Home Depot.
On Thursday, the elementary school at 3600 Commonwealth Avenue got help with painting, minor construction projects, rebuilding the school’s library, and assembling furniture, according to ACPS.
“Yesterday, The Home Depot employees volunteered to make repairs and upgrades at a local Alexandria elementary school,” Rebuilding Together DC – Alexandria said on Facebook. “It takes a village to keep a community going strong! Many thanks to our partnership with Home Depot!”
Rebuilding Together DC – Alexandria was founded in 1986. Since then, the organization has recruited thousands of volunteers to provide upwards of $350,000 in manual labor and materials to Alexandria and D.C. homeowners in need.
“Though we provide repair services year-round, many volunteer projects take place on National Rebuilding Day in April,” Rebuilding Together DC – Alexandria said on its website. “If you know of a DC or Alexandria homeowner that can be served through our programs, please contact us at 202-800-6032.”
