The Concerned Citizens Network of Alexandria will host a community town hall meeting with Alexandria City Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Melanie Kay-Wyatt on Wednesday, Sept. 3, from 6-7 p.m. via Zoom.
The virtual forum, announced Tuesday on the organization’s Instagram account, will provide residents an opportunity to engage directly with the district’s top administrator about education issues affecting the community. The meeting comes just over two weeks after ACPS students returned to classrooms on Monday, Aug. 18, for the start of the 2025-26 school year.
“You do not want to miss our next Community Town Hall with Dr. Melanie K Wyatt, Superintendent, Alexandria Public Schools,” the Concerned Citizens Network of Alexandria posted on social media.
The meeting will be conducted entirely online through Zoom, with registration information available on the organization’s website.
CCNA describes its mission as working “to empower a comprehensive community-wide effort to address the issues of equity in education, social justice, and health.” The nonprofit operates three major programs: Reach & Rise for Excellence (RARE) and Parent Engagement & Community Forums, collaborating with schools, parents, students, families, and citizens throughout Alexandria.
The organization was established in 2009 following a Washington Post article that identified T.C. Williams High School as one of Virginia’s “Lowest Performing Schools” with the highest dropout rates in the state.
Kay-Wyatt was appointed superintendent in 2023, succeeding Dr. Gregory Hutchings Jr. She previously served as deputy superintendent for the district.
Community members can access the virtual town hall through the Zoom link posted on CCNA’s website at ccnalexandria.org.
