Notes: AlexRenew plans September public tour event

AlexRenew will open its wastewater treatment facility to the public Sept. 20, offering tours and educational programming at the municipal utility’s Alexandria plant.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1800 Limerick Street. Staff will conduct facility tours for adults and children 14 and older, accompanied by parents or guardians.

Tour groups are limited to 10 people with advance registration required through timed entry slots. Registration begins Aug. 11.

The program includes STEM activities, games, and readings from AlexRenew’s children’s book series about wastewater treatment processes.

AlexRenew operates Alexandria’s wastewater treatment infrastructure, processing municipal waste to meet environmental and public health standards.

🚓 An Alexandria man is behind bars for allegedly abusing several dogs, leading to the death of one dog, at an award-winning boarding facility in Del Ray. This story has been updated with statements from the Offic of the Commonwealth’s Attorney and from the business owner.
